But last fall, God began to nudge us back toward Hawaii. When we left, we left a big part of our hearts in the islands. We knew that God is doing great things here on Oahu, but there is still more to be done. As I began to pray and think about the most strategic way to have a long-term influence in the islands, my heart and mind drifted back to Trinity, and in God's providence, he opened a door for me to step into this job.
So why would a university professor who was teaching Bible and theology become the Director of Advancement at Trinity Christian School?
We love the islands and want to see God's glory advance here in Hawaii. That passion led us to Hawaii years ago and that same passion led us back to the islands this summer. TCS has a unique opportunity to partner with parents and churches to impact students for God's glory. Along with this, our classical Christian method is a tremendous way to influence students toward biblically-driven, gospel-centered, intellectually-robust thinking and living. And our students will have opportunities to impact many others. And the people they impact will be able to impact even more. As I think about how God could use this school to influence generations with the gospel, it is hard not to be enthusiastic about Trinity!
Being a part of the TCS family will be a great chance for our family to learn, grow, and serve together. My wife and I have a unique opportunity for our family to be a part of the TCS community and the Windward Oahu community. It is a rare thing to be able to work and serve at the school that your kids attend. And I've been able to see firsthand how much our teachers really do love the students. Let me assure you that is not just an act they are putting on!
I'm still settling in to my role here and learning more about how I can best serve our school. But it is already clear to me that I cannot do this alone. I need your prayers and I will need your help. I hope to connect with many of you soon. Or, better yet, if you would like to connect, please be in touch. I'd love to hear and learn about your experiences with Trinity and also work together to connect with new partners who can help us take the next steps as our school continues to move ahead.
I'm looking forward to working with all you in the coming days. These are exciting days to be a part of the TCS ohana, and I'm grateful to be on board.
