Remember when you brought your child to school for the first time? Maybe it was preschool, maybe it was kindergarten, but either way that was a big day for the whole family. I remember being almost a little disappointed my daughter didn’t cry as I left the classroom whimpering. Entering school thrust our family into a new stage of life. We were anxious to find our place in this new community, Trinity Christian School. Here we are six years later and we found that there are many opportunities for a new parent or a seasoned TCS parent to be involved and partner with the teachers and the school. I was so excited the first time I got to be a room parent, what an opportunity! My husband loves to be involved in construction projects around campus, or up to his knees in mud clearing the field, or just pulling weeds. We continue to serve and continue to know our efforts impact the teachers, students, and families of TCS.
Every parent/guardian is a member of the Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF). The objectives of the PTF are to promote the welfare of students, bridge the relationship between home and school, support the teachers, and organize fundraising projects. The PTF holds regular membership meetings, coordinates the annual Spring Gala and other fundraiser projects, organizes staff appreciation events, and partners with the school and the teachers on other projects and activities throughout the year.
You may be wondering, “Where do I fit in, what can I do to help?” Or, you may be saying, “I already helped or I’m too busy to volunteer.” There is a place for everyone and I think your experience at TCS will be enriched if you get involved. Ask the teacher if they need some help in the classroom, or maybe you can take papers home to grade. Come to a campus workday. Do you have a skill or an interest you can share with the other parents? Come to a PTF meeting. Take on a leadership role on a committee, or just help in the background. If you’re not sure where you’re needed, I can help find the right place for you.
My husband and I expect to be at Trinity for another 13 years. We know the investment of time and resources we make each year will impact not only our children but all the students of today and tomorrow. That is an investment well worth making.
The PTF strives to partner with the staff and the families to improve the educational, spiritual, social, and emotional well-being of the student. Thank you for your partnership.
