It’s that time of the year to say Aloha to some of our faculty and staff who will begin a new chapter in their lives. All of them would be quick to say how Trinity has played a special role in each of their unfolding stories. But, they have also played a very meaningful part in the story of our school and in the lives of our children and families. The Author has used them to bless us and shape who we are and where we go from here.
Ann DellDonne, 5th Grade Teacher. Ann has worked diligently this year because of her great love for her students. She’s a very talented educator who invests individually in her students, and as a result 5th grade has flourished this year. She’ll be moving with her family to San Francisco this summer as her husband seizes a new opportunity with work. We hope she will continue to be a blessing to other students and families.
James Curry, Facilities Assistant. James has very selflessly cared for our two campuses, making this a functional, safe, and beautiful place to work and learn. That said, his heart is in teaching, and he’s especially eager to teach God’s Word and the good news of Jesus Christ. He’s moving with his family to California to care for some extended family members as he searches for a Bible teaching position in a Christian school.
Anna Chao, Business Manager. Anna has been a delight to have on Team Trinity, as she has thoroughly embraced the ministry of our school and our classical Christian model. She’s been a good steward of our resources, a proponent of our school, and a friend and counselor to many. While we will lose her here at Trinity, she’ll be staying on island as a Manager for Consumer Advocacy at HMSA.
Chris Bruno, Director of Advancement. Although he’s only been in this role for the past year, Chris and his family have a longer history with Trinity, and it’s been evident to everyone that they love this school and this community dearly. Chris has made a wonderful investment in the school, and we will miss his presence, guidance, and contribution. Chris will be moving with his family to Minneapolis, MN where he will be a Asst. Professor of New Testament and Greek at Bethlehem College and Seminary.
Katie Jackson, Math & Science Teacher. Katie has blessed our community with her wisdom, enthusiasm in teaching, and infectious laughter. In her time with us at Trinity (since 2012), she had constantly sought to improve her lessons and devise compelling ways to teach her students. Her determination to succeed is only surpassed by her love for our youth and shepherding them to the glory of God. She will continue to teach and serve the community here in Hawaii as a middle school math teacher at Kamalani Academy in Wahiawa.
Laurie Wilson, Rhetoric & Latin Teacher. Laurie has had a long and distinguished service to our school since 2011. She’s helped the Secondary School mature and grow in truly significant and meaningful ways. The success or our students in state competitions of Speech and Debate and their upcoming Thesis Presentations (starting today!) will testify to her leadership. More importantly, she has personally loved and invested in her students, making deposits that will last to eternity. We are sorry to see Laurie go, but we trust that God will continue to use her for His glory.
Jennifer Cable, Elementary Principal. Many of you have known Jennifer as the Elementary Principal, but she was a teacher before that, and a Trinity mom before that. She has worked at Trinity for 12 years, and it’s been transformative for the Elementary School, leaving it in the best place it’s ever been! As her responsibilities in the school grew, she humbly sought to learn and grow in her ability to organize, effectively manage, lead, teach, care for, disciple, lovingly correct, praise, and encourage countless people impacted by our Elementary school. She will be moving to Roanoke, VA with her family as her husband retires from the Army and starts a new job and a new chapter in God’s story for them.
As for me and my family, we have finally decided on the next chapter of our story (more accurately, it’s been revealed to us as we turn each page by faith). I will be attending the Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, FL. Our oldest daughter will be attending a classical Christian school there. And, my wife will be homeschooling our youngest (while resisting the temptation to take field trips to Disney World).
We are profoundly thankful for the privilege extended to me by Trinity Church and the Board to serve the school as Headmaster these past four years. God has used this time in our lives and all the people in it (all of you!) to shape us and bless us richly. As we part, we are very optimistic about the future of this school and excited about the team in place to take it there.
In Christ,
Stephen Sprague
Headmaster
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Eph 3:20-21
