Big Island 2015
Day One
The 5th grade students left early this morning for their 2 night trip to the Big Island. The plane trip was great and everyone is doing well. First stop was Rainbow Falls then they had lunch at Queen Liliuokalani Gardens. Stay tuned for more updates from the Big Island.
DAY 2
The 5th grade students started their day with a trip through the Thurston Lava tube and a hike across the Kilauea Iki Crater! Auntie Susan and former Volcano Park Ranger had lots of information about volcanos and the park. They also got to feel the hot steam coming out of the vent and taste nectar from the ohia lehua trees that the native birds eat from.
Day Three
The 5th grade students boarded the bus to Kona this morning! They will be flying home out of Kona later this afternoon. A full day ahead. Not many pictures to share, but here are a few.

Day 2 5th Grade Big Island Trip
Everyone is well! We were very tired last night and turned in early after a night hike to the crater rim to see the red glow and steam from
Halema'uma'u. The students are doing a great job and are real troopers. We will be on the crater hike for the next few hours, so probably will not have service. Will send more info and pics when able.

2013 5th Grade Trip
The trip to the Big Island is a great educational opportunity. Almost as important, the trip is a rite of passage as many students are traveling without their parents for the first time. Most years this trip takes place in October, but due to the government shutdown, the trip was delayed until today. Full of anticipation the students and chaperones met at 4:30AM to head for the airport. These three days & two nights will be busy, memorable, and an chance to revel in God's glorious creation!
