After our early morning visit to Dover Castle, we took a half an hour bus ride to Canterbury. Once we got there, we met up with our tour guide, Marti,n and we began our tour around Canterbury. He first took us through the city and then we made our way to visit the Canterbury Cathedral. We were taken around the outside of the Cathedral and even though it was raining and cold, we managed to push through it and took advantage of our chance to observe and learn more about the architecture of the building. We then made our way back into the city where we got to visit the Canterbury Tales exhibit. This personally was my favorite part of our visit in Canterbury. Before coming on this trip, our literature class read the Canterbury Tales short stories which are what we got to see in this exhibit. We were given little telephones that we would listen to in order to hear the stories as we made our way through the exhibit. Most of the girls including me thought of this as a haunted house and had a little bit of a panic attack when we were left in the back of the group, thinking that something was going to pop out at us even though everything was fake. After finishing up the exhibit, we went back into the city and stopped at a place called Whittard, a special tea shop. From there, we split up into two groups, one group went into the Canterbury Cathedral and the other group went shopping around the city. From what I heard those who went into the cathedral said it was amazing. They noticed that it was a gothic stone cathedral with many beautiful stained glass images. While they were in there, there was the pipe organist practicing which made the experience enchanting. After a cold and rainy tour around Canterbury, we took a three hour long bus ride back to London.
