Day 5: Monday, October 3, 2016: Corinth, Athens
After an early breakfast, we will drive to the Corinth Canal, then continue on to Ancient Corinth, where we will visit the ruins of the ancient city where the Apostle Paul worked. As well as the remains of first-century shops, we will also see the agora where Paul was on trial at the Bema, the Fountain of Peirene, Temple of Apollo and the museum. We will have free time to purchase lunch in Corinth, then return to Athens. Our tour will include key Biblical sites including the Acropolis, the Agora and Mars Hill where Paul taught. Dinner will be at the Hotel Herodion this evening. (B/D)
Update from our travelers:
After dinner Dr. Wilson took the kids out shopping while Mr. Fant stayed at the hotel with two students who were not feeling well. One student is feeling a bit ill so prayers for no one else catching the other student's stomach flu would be much appreciated! Mr. Fant handed out a round of vitamin C to everyone at dinner so we're trying our best to stay healthy!
Everyone had a wonderful time on the tour today. They had a different guide from last year who was versed in the biblical significance of all the sights and they were all excited to share when they came back.
Another update from out travelers (Abby):
There were so many amazing things about Greece that I'm afraid my words cannot do them justice.
We drove all the way to Corinth, and walked through the ruins of the city. We stood in the exact spot that Paul stood, and saw the beautiful ruined statues of gods and kings. We were told the myth of the abduction of Persephone in the exact place where Hades abducted her.
In Athens we hiked up to the top of the acropolis and saw the parthenon, and all the other beautiful temples dedicated to the other gods. I've wanted to see the Parthenon in person since I was twelve years old. This day in Greece was a dream come true for me.
