The Boys action began at 6pm against Calvary. Both teams felt the pressure of the finals and the immense energy from the crowd. With some great rallies and crowd screaming points, the fans were not disappointed. The Lions played with great courage and managed to pull off the victory in two straight sets. Although undefeated the entire season, these boys humbly accepted their trophies and congratulations from the masses of fans, competitors, and referees as perfect gentlemen. And to top it all off, TCS not only brought home the coveted first place trophy, but many individual awards as well. Seth Ines and Chad Schuler received the All-Conference Award. Noah Leong and Jesse Makuakane received the All-Star Team Award while Chad Schuler was named MVP of the tournament! Go boys go, we are so proud of all of their amazing effort.
As for the girls, it was a graceful fall to second place. They knew they had to give it their all which made for a very exciting evening. Calvary took the first set with a score of 18-25. The frustrated Lady Lions decided that it was time to bring it or go home. Senior, captain, Manda Rabara rallied her team on for an amazing effort in the second set victory, 25-17! It all came down to the final set. As the score inched up on both sides, the crowd volume was deafening. It took massive concentration and guts from both sides. At Aloha ball, the Lions were down 13-14. It was within their grasp, but the ball just didn’t fall in their favor, 13-15 final score Calvary. The Lions, especially seniors Keanu Makue and Team Captain Manda Rabara could have put their heads down, instead they graciously accepted defeat and congratulated Calvary for the win and each other for a hard fought fight to the finish. We love you girls! In addition to the second place trophy, TCS girls walked away with Manda and Karley Kimitsuka both winning All- Conference and All-Star Team Awards!
