Merry Christmas from the Trinity School Board! It’s an exciting season in the life of our school. But, it’s an especially exciting season in the life of God’s church as we celebrate the coming of Christ our King. I pray this is a special time for families to join together and share the love that has been graciously poured upon us whether here in Hawaii or as your travels take you.
I also have two items of school board news for you. First, I’m delighted to announce the installment of a new Board Member: John Bothof. John works as a Project Manager for Burns & McDonnell and runs the Hawaii office. He has a degree in Physics from Northwest Missouri State University, and a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri. He has been a pioneer in his respective industry in distributed energy and secure power. The Bothofs were drawn to Trinity for its classical Christian program, and it has had an amazing impact on their family. John is excited to serve God and the ohana of Trinity in this role. He and his wife Kristin have three children Kelsie, Ryann, and Reagan. Kelsie and Ryann are in TCS grades 5 and K, respectively.
Second, the School Board is formally establishing a Campus Planning Committee that will continue to investigate possible future campus locations, what the requirements are, and what is the best path forward. We are excited to see how God will move in the next months and years to plant Trinity in a permanent location here on the windward side. John Bothof will be the lead for the committee and we have already identified a small core group to work with him.
As I mentioned during the Parents’ Nights at the beginning of the school year, we are in the process of growing our Board this year. This is part of the necessary foundation for the strategic moves we anticipate making over the next five years to further solidify our school’s program and facilities. Our enrollment continues to climb (even during this school year!), and we see a strong signal from our community to make investments in the long-term permanence of our school. I am reminded of the faith that went into establishing Trinity Christian School 33 years ago, and the decision to expand to the upper grades seven years ago. There was much prayer and even some trepidation that was part of these decisions, made in faith that God was at work, even if it wasn’t clear how He would work. Obviously, God has blessed us beyond expectation to have made the transition stronger than when we started and to have graduates excelling by every measure. Especially in this season, as we celebrate God’s gift of His Son dwelling among us, please join with the Board and our staff/faculty in praying for our school, our community, and the furthering of God’s Kingdom.
