One of the seniors is Samuel Arney who started preschool in 1997. Several other seniors started in kindergarten. This inaugural class is blazing the trail for our current preschoolers, as they grow up to be men and women impacting the world for God.
In a classical school, we begin with the end goals in mind so that skills build sequentially at the proper developmental stages. A primary goal of our Pre-Kindergarten (PK) program is socialization; that is to share, to listen, to be kind to one another, and to take direction from adults other than parents. With a 10 to 1 ratio, the teachers shepherd children’s tender hearts to love the Lord with heart, mind, soul and strength. Children think they are playing but their day is filled with purpose in preparation for Junior Kindergarten: developing fine motor skills with coloring and cutting, cognitive activities such a counting and single sounds, and gross motor skills of sign language and creative movement.
As these little ones progress into Junior Kindergarten (JK), the curriculum becomes increasingly more academic in nature as the students can attend to their lessons longer. They master their single phonograms in preparation for reading and writing. Their fine motor skills are enhanced by learning to write letters and numbers. The children are well prepared for kindergarten and eager to grow in wisdom, knowledge and truth.
Before you know it, the preschoolers will be seniors graduating from Trinity Christian School and ready to impact the world for God!
