First, who is the PTF? Technically, it is all the parents and teachers...there is no exclusive membership. More specifically, we have four very committed officers: Kim Kirschner, Nicia Platt, Kristi Ireland, and Lauren Bresnahan. And they lead and cultivate a network of other parent volunteers, to include classroom parents throughout the school.
Second, What is their crucial role? Very simply stated: To foster community and connection (fellowship!) between the school faculty/staff and the parents. As we partner and labor together in guiding children into maturity, the PTF contribution is vitally important for cultivating that soil in which our children grow, a culture of trust and friendship. Each year, the PTF may take a different shape and do different things, but whatever they do, they do out of love for this special school community. This is particularly meaningful for our staff and faculty who are blessed not only by their students but also by the families. This is the reason our faculty continue to work at Trinity-- they love what they are doing and they love this community!
Now the school may do things and plan events that contribute to this connection, but the PTF provides a way for parent-led activity in the school, parent-initiated service, and even some parent-directed expenditures (PTF has their own budget!). Bottom line...parents have a perspective on the life of the school that will sometimes escape staff and faculty too close to it, and that parent perspective and participation is vitally important.
Everyone who participates in the PTF contributes directly to one of our four Core Convictions: Partnered with Parents in our Community. You are not merely consumers; you are partners! Please consider serving your school community in this special way, and contact one of the officers to ask how you can get involved in the life of the school.
