If there is just one thing I have learned in my years at Trinity Christian School, it is that God does indeed provide perfectly for all our needs. There is no reason to be anxious or doubt. When I walk through the door that God opens, all goes well. Trying to open the door myself without the right key has proven impossible. Ah, the wisdom that comes with grey hair! The spring always brings new growth, including new faculty and staff. This past weekend, our faculty and staff gathered at the Enright’s home to celebrate a year well done and bid aloha to friends moving on to new ways to minister. But we know when friends go, new ones come. I offer a brief introduction of those coming on board next school year.
Pre-Kindergarten Teacher: Carol Awaya is no stranger to us. She and her husband Rob have three children at Trinity, Ashton, Amanda, and Andrew. Carol has volunteered in many capacities, including co-chair of the Spring Gala. Prior to having children, Carol worked for many years with young children with special needs.
Preschool Aide: Likewise, Messina Aguiar is no stranger. Messina and her husband Jeremy will have four children at our school, Matthias, Jesslyn, Trinity Love, and now Jeshua. For the past couple of years, Messina has helped in the kitchen where we have witnessed her loving ways with children.
Preschool Specialist: Another familiar face joining our faculty is Laura Hudgens. Laura actually worked as a preschool aide at Trinity after graduating from college. She then met her husband Ikaika through Jen Kwan and spent the next 7 years having babies. Three of the five babies are now at Trinity-- Akahai, Hako, and Oliko with two little ones still at home. This past year Laura filled in as swim teacher and other substitute positions. It’s now time that Laura put her education degree back into practice!
Elementary Hawaiian Language: We are on a roll here…Pua Kane, our vivacious Makai early morning care leader (and previously after school care leader) is going to use her gift of Hawaiian language, music, and culture with our kindergarten and first grade
students. A longtime goal of the Curriculum Committee was to complete a Hawaiian Studies strand from PK-12. Adding Hawaiian language is the first step in accomplishing that goal and there is no better person than Ms. Pua!
Music Teacher: Music K-12 will be taught by none other than Jonathan Fant, the husband of Trinity alum and past 4th grade teacher Jessica Keizer Fant. They moved to the mainland this past year so Jonathan could finish his degree (summa cum laude!) and he is now ready to put his own classical Christian education and music degree into practice.
Sixth Grade Teacher: Sara Iseri is a delightful young lady who grew up in a Christian home in Kaneohe, graduated from Castle High School and then Trinity Western University in BC, Canada. During her college years she had significant experience substitute teaching and again this past year at Hawaii Baptist Academy in 5th grade.
We are continuing to interview for the Registrar and Kindergarten Assistant positions. Please join us in praying for the right person at the right time.
In Christ,
Nancy Shaw
